The children of Ikhaya Lomusa and OVC were so excited and eager to celebrate the Easter story of the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. There was plenty of delicious food and, obviously, Easter eggs by the dozen. After all, what’s an Easter party without the eggs? The eggs were hidden away to add an extra level of excitement and in the Easter egg hunt that followed, it was wonderful to see the children running around, trying to get as many eggs as they could possibly fit into their little arms.
Sam and two of her friends from the Design School of South Africa helped with games, hiding the eggs, which were provided by the many institutions that took part in egg drives, and serving the food. Everyone was so involved and it was such a wonderful time for the children. The best part was when Wynn, one of the child minders, told the Easter story. The children were attentive as some of them had never even heard the full Easter story before. Seeing the look of surprise and wonder at what the Lord did for us on the cross was just beautiful. Naturally, the party ended with even more Easter eggs and we left with a picture in our minds of young, happy faces of children who had experienced an Easter party full of fun, enjoyment and meaning.
