FAMILY PARTICIPATION AT AN ALL TIME HIGH
This year has been incredible so far. We started with our first parents’ meeting of the year that an astounding 183 parents attended! The meeting was for us to share the outline of Rose-ACT’s mission for the year, including the rules and expectations. We also had very positive feedback from the parents of last year’s students.
TUTORS HOSTED ON SPECIAL TOUR OF ALEX
We did something a little different this year and had a parent/tutor walking tour of Alex. Annetjie and Thakgalo (volunteer staff members) and 8 parents, led 17 tutors through the streets of Alex and into their students’ homes.
Feedback was amazing with all tutors finding the trip eye-opening and humbling.
CELEBRATING THE GOLD IN EACH ONE OF OUR CHILDREN
Some pics from the holiday club – Loads of fun, love and laughter whilst sharing God’s love and celebrating the gold in each one of our children!
Our April holidays saw another very successful Rose-ACT Holiday Club, with 198 students, 20 leaders and 4 parents volunteering.
The theme for this year, following along with the theme from our Vision Day earlier this year, was ‘Finding the Gold in Me’.
All activities were aimed at students identifying their gold (talents and personality traits).
The apostle Peter was studied, as being an example of ‘raw gold’, making many mistakes and even denying he knew Jesus, to how he was forgiven and gradually refined to be the gold that Jesus commissioned to speak to the masses.
And last but not least, we’ve had a great response this year with our Chess Club. We’ve had a good number of Community Hour students joined us at Chess Club on Saturday afternoons and we’ve had great fun sharpening our skills and having some good competition!
Watch out world – we will have our very own Queen of Katwe coming out of Alex soon!
