Fortress REIT Limited enables Rays of Hope to continue making an impact in the lives of Alexandra families July 7, 2020/ Posted By : Editorial Team/ 0 comments / Under : News ROH This year has not been easy for anyone around the world. It especially hasn’t been easy for the vulnerable and orphaned children and families that live in Alexandra. One of the good Samaritans who have demonstrated immense support for what Rays of Hope is doing is Fortress REIT Limited. The owner of numerous key shopping centres and warehouses has provided face masks for the community, educational support for the children and financial aid that enabled Rays of Hope to continue providing food parcels to support the children and families of Alexandra. Recently, Fortress made a significant donation to help families whose homes were destroyed in a devastating fire that left countless community members homeless. Many of these families are responsible for young children and had to endure cold nights on the street while guarding what remained of their possessions after the blaze. In addition, Fortress funded the Rose-Act Saturday School maths curriculum, which benefits close to 300 children who attend extra mathematics and English classes every Saturday. This donation ensured that the learning gap gets bridged and that Rays of Hope’s vision to move over 2,800 people from vulnerability to independence happens. To support Alex families through the very challenging lock-down period, Fortress also donated hundreds of COVID-19 food and care packages. They also sourced and delivered 3,000 single-use face masks that were allocated to the primary healthcare workers in Alex, the nurses at the Alex old age home and Rays of Hope’s frontline staff making deliveries. Fortress’ willingness to help the underprivileged and support Rays of Hope dates back to 2019 when the organisation decided that staff would make donations to various charities instead of buying corporate gifts for the festive season. That year, Rays of Hope received R35,000 from the property company. This was in addition to a free Rays of Hope billboard advertisement that was placed at Thrupps Shopping centre for a month. Rays of Hope would not be able to continue helping the community of Alexandra if it wasn’t for the support and partnership opportunities received from individuals and companies. Through generous donations and countless hours of volunteering, Rays of Hope can continue to make a positive impact in the lives of vulnerable families and children.
