The Rays of Hope projects focus on the following areas of need:
- Entrepreneurial / skills development: training to impart skills to the unemployed thus enabling them to become financially independent.
- Orphans & Vulnerable Children (OVC): the HIV/AIDS epidemic and poverty create a context where large numbers of children are vulnerable and more at risk than their peers.
- Psychosocial Care: involving both psychological and social aspects of one’s life; relating these social conditions to mental and emotional health.
- Asset Based Community Development (ABCD). This is an approach that focuses on the resources and strengths of communities, rather than needs and deficiencies. It disrupts the classic needs-based approach to development and instead encourages community empowerment and sustainability.
