School Intervention

#CatchThemYoung is the motto of the School Intervention team

Every month our team of social workers visit various Alex schools to address the issues that most affect the young people as they grow up:

  • Sex and responsible sexuality
  • Teenage pregnancy
  • Bullying
  • Toxic masculinity
  • Anger management

Initially high schools were approached, but now the main focus is on primary schools, as we need to intervene earlier.

The primary goals of the intervention are to:

  • educate on these topics as they are not openly discussed at home or at school
  • introduce the counselling that is available through Rays of Hope
  • start a teenage support group at the different schools to run anger management training

Ways to partner with us:
  • Sponsor a stipend for a volunteer social worker to enable us to reach more schools and more young people
  • Sponsor the printing of manuals to be able to run a values-based leadership session with a group of young people
