The Michelangelo Hotel partners for good
The Michelangelo Hotel is one of the most iconic properties in the Sandton precinct, and its HR manager, Mati Beja, says that it makes simple good sense for the hotel to partner with Rays of Hope.
“We wanted to support an organisation that is involved in meaningful initiatives in communities close the hotel, and Rays of Hope and its various initiatives that make such a difference to the people of Alexandra met all of our requirements,” she says.
The Hotel and its staff contribute to Rays of Hope’s initiatives in diverse ways, whether it’s by sponsoring vouchers as prizes for fund-raising events, linen donations, event sponsorships, or cash donations from money raised at the hotel’s own fund raisers. Over the years, The Michelangelo Hotel has also sponsored the installation of a JoJo tank, along with responding to other requests from the various programmes.
“The staff are always very excited to take part in activities involving Rays of Hope,” Mati explains. “We have had staff involved in painting, planting trees, and hosting children from Alex here at the hotel for work experience and exposure, and this has served to bring the issues faced by the people of Alex closer to our staff. It also removes the mystery of the organisation and puts a human face to it.”
Mati recommends Rays of Hope as an empowerment or CSI partner because it is involved in projects that empower the beneficiaries. “The stories of the people of Alex are the stories of South Africa, and it is our great honour and privilege to be part of changing those stories into ones of success and opportunity,” she says.
“It’s been a wonderful journey so far teaming up with Rays of Hope to change the lives of South Africans, one interaction, one initiative at a time. We hope for many, many more years of partnership!”
