Will you help us #WarmUpAlex?

Every year as temperatures fall, the people of Alexandra township feel the cold and the wet in ways that most of us can’t even imagine. Most of the houses let in the cold wind, the rain seeps in through the roof and open fires result in homes being destroyed time and time again.

This year, we’re driving a city-wide campaign to #WarmUpAlex. We’re calling on individuals, businesses, schools and anyone who wants to make this winter more bearable, and let’s face it, survivable, to donate blankets, winter clothing and jackets, non-perishable food and basic cold and flu medicines.

There are collection points across the city, but we’re looking for companies to drive collections within their office blocks, and for friends to rally their communities to collect new or previously loved items in good condition. We’re coordinating with community organisations across Alex to ensure that as donations are received, they are given to people with the most need.

AlexFM and the Greater Alexandra Chamber of Commerce and Industry are supporting this project – and together we’re looking to make a massive change to how the people of Alex experience winter 2019.
