Young people in Alex, whether they complete their schooling or not, are all limited to the extent to which they are exposed to the world of work. This programme aims to change that through a number of interventions aimed at Grade 10 and upwards:
- Personal development training – time management, budgeting, self-awareness
- Work readiness training – job hunting, CV writing, interviewing skills
- Career exposure – presentations, visits to various work environments
- Mentoring – 1-on-1 relationship with a professional who can share work and career insights, networks and experience
If the person is unemployed, he/she will be required to volunteer at Rays of Hope to gain some initial experience.
Ways to partner with us:
- Volunteer to talk at our monthly information sessions on your career or a work-related skill
- Mentor a young person (once a month commitment)
- Host a few young people to visit your workplace and learn about your company
- Offer job-shadowing for a week or more during the holidays
