Behind every meal served, every child comforted and every programme delivered at Rays of Hope stands a team of extraordinary women. This Women's Day, we decided it was time to turn our attention to them. Rather than looking outward into the Alexandra community we serve every day, we looked inward and celebrated the women who make that service possible in the first place.
The result was an afternoon our team won't soon forget: a Sip and Paint celebration filled with laughter, colour and connection, generously sponsored by Emeris. For a few precious hours, the ladies of Rays of Hope swapped their usual roles, caregiver, coordinator, cook, counsellor, for something entirely their own: an easel, a glass of something bubbly, and the freedom to simply create
The Celebration
The event brought the whole Rays of Hope women's team together under one roof for a shared lunch and a guided painting session. Canvases went up, brushes came out, and conversation flowed as easily as the paint with plenty of laughter along the way as everyone's artistic side came out to play.
•Sip and Paint experience – a relaxed, guided painting session paired with good food, giving every woman a canvas to make her own.
•Sponsored by Emeris – whose generous sponsorship made the day possible and free of charge for every woman who attended.
• A shared lunch – giving the team time away from their day-to-day roles to sit down together, unhurried, and simply enjoy each other's company.

Impact and Reach
It's easy to see a Sip and Paint afternoon as a small gesture. In practice, its impact went far deeper. For an organisation built on the daily, often invisible labour of women, the event was a rare and deliberate act of appreciation and it showed. The ladies left with more than a finished painting: they left having relaxed, connected, and been reminded that their contribution to Rays of Hope and the Alexandra community does not go unnoticed.
The ripple effect of that kind of recognition is significant. Teams that feel seen and valued bring renewed energy to their work and for Rays of Hope, that means better care, stronger collaboration, and a more resilient team supporting the children and families who rely on us every day. In that sense, this Women's Day celebration was not a departure from our mission; it was an investment in it.
A Word of Thanks to Emeris
This celebration would not have been possible without Emeris's generosity, whose sponsorship gave our team a day they will remember. Partnerships like this remind us that supporting Rays of Hope isn't only about the work we do in the community it's also about investing in the people who carry that work forward. We are deeply grateful for their support and proud to shine a spotlight on a stakeholder who chose to celebrate our women in such a meaningful way.

Looking Ahead
This year's celebration was an internal one, dedicated entirely to the women of Rays of Hope. Having seen the impact it made, we are excited to grow this initiative in future and we would love to welcome more of our stakeholders and community partners to celebrate alongside our team as we mark Women's Day in the years to come.
