ROSE ACT SATURDAY SCHOOL

The Rose-Act Saturday School is an academic enrichment programme of Rays of Hope designed to bridge learning gaps and strengthen educational outcomes for children in Alexandra. The programme provides structured academic support to learners in Grade 1-9, who require additional assistance in literacy, numeracy, and leadership development, helping them build confidence and improve performance in mainstream schooling.

Operating every Saturday, the programme creates a safe, focused, and nurturing learning environment where learners can consolidate foundational skills, receive individual attention, and develop positive study habits.

What the Programme Offers

Academic Support
Learners receive structured lessons supplementary to the school curriculum, with a strong focus on literacy and numeracy in the foundation and intermediate phases. Senior learners receive targeted support and exam preparation.

Small Group Learning
Smaller class sizes allow tutors to provide individualized attention, identify learning barriers early, and tailor support to each learner’s needs.

Tutor Training and Development
All tutors receive ongoing training to ensure quality delivery, effective classroom management, and learner-centred teaching practices.

Holistic Support

Education does not happen in isolation. Each learner is assigned a dedicated social worker who provides ongoing guidance and support. Home visits are conducted to better understand the child’s environment and family context, ensuring that interventions are relevant and responsive. Where necessary, learners also receive nutrition support to remove barriers to learning and improve concentration, wellbeing, and overall academic performance.

Building Future Pathways

Rose-Act Saturday School equips learners with the academic tools, confidence, and resilience they need to succeed in school and beyond. By strengthening foundational skills early and providing consistent support through critical academic years, the programme helps break cycles of underachievement and expands future opportunities.

Through community partnership and dedicated support, Rose-Act Saturday School continues to nurture capable, confident learners who are prepared to thrive.
