Why the Programme Matters

Many women in Alexandra face limited access to formal employment opportunities. Without skills, certification, or startup support, it becomes difficult to generate a stable income

Our Sewing Programme addresses this gap by:

  • Providing accredited basic garment construction training
  • Teaching practical sewing and pattern-making skills
  • Offering foundational entrepreneurial training
  • Building financial literacy and business confidence

By combining skills development with enterprise support, the programme promotes long-term economic independence rather than short-term relief.

FROM SKILLS TO INCOME 

The programme encourages participants to:

  • Start small home-based businesses
  • Offer alteration services locally
  • Collaborate on group production opportunities
  • Access local markets and community events

Where possible, Rays of Hope supports participants through mentorship, networking opportunities, and guidance on accessing markets.
