With the frigid winter months fast approaching in South Africa, many of the residents of Alexandra Township will face difficult days and even more brutal nights without sufficiently insulated homes, warm clothing, or food to at least keep their stomachs warm.
Just over the bridge that separates Alex from the far wealthier suburbs of Sandton, there are those who can pull on warm winter coats and boots and enjoy restful in a warm bed. This, unfortunately, remains a dream for the majority of people living in Alex, who are vulnerable and ill- equipped with even with the bare essentials, such as clothing and food.
“Everyone has the right to shelter from the cold, clothing to keep them warm and food to nourish them. #WarmUpAlex is an annual Rays of Hope initiative that supports this. We want to make winters a little more manageable for people in Alex, and as always, we cant do it without your help,” says Muziwethu Zwane, Rays of Hope CEO.
This winter, Rays of Hope calls on all generous souls to help us #WarmUpAlex by donating blankets, scarves, gloves, socks, non-perishable food items, and medication for colds and flu. Cash donations are also welcome and can be made via https://raysofhope.co.za/donate-now/
